Everyone has a talent they excel at. I found my talent at very early age when I began impressing my parents with my crayon drawings. As I grew, I began honing my artistic abilities with the assistance of my interest at the time. I drew many of my favorite cartoons, comic book heroes, and occasionally I depicted the likeness of those around me onto paper.
During my academic years, my interests in the arts lead me to other creative outlets, such as painting, drawing, fantasy art, digital illustrating, and graphic designing. However, nothing expanded my imagination more than a creative writing class I took just to complete my required course credits. Through writing, I discovered that my only creative boundaries were the limitations of my own vocabulary.
Writing became a new form of art that allowed me to add the details to my work that I could not properly depict through drawing or painting. I learned that every word can give you a certain feeling when spoken, just as a work of art can move someone to feel a certain emotion. The more I drew, and the more I wrote, the more I started to unlock the mysteries of the imagination. Soon, my own stories began to develop and the characters within them took me to fascinating worlds beyond our own.
I am inspired by the literary works of J.R.R. Tolkien, J.K. Rowling, and Dan Brown. The realistic artistry of the Pre-Raphaelite masters and the surreal style of Stephen Gammell motivate me.
I paint with words and I write stories with art.
